Painting Wizards is a painting contractor working across the Cape Town metro, the

site, then quoted in writing with the preparation, the paint system and the number of
coats listed as separate lines.
Interior painting
Walls, ceilings, skirtings, architraves, door frames and doors. Interior work is
usually two coats over a prepared surface, with filling and sanding of cracks and nail
holes first. Occupied houses are staged room by room so you are not living around the
whole job at once. Where a ceiling has water staining, the stain is sealed before the
topcoat or it bleeds back through.
Exterior painting
Exterior painting is where
preparation decides the outcome. Chalked or flaking coatings have to come back to a sound
substrate, cracks opened and filled, and bare plaster primed before anything else goes on.
Cape Town adds two conditions most of the country does not: salt-laden air along the coast,
and the summer south-easter driving it into west- and south-facing walls. Winter rain
between May and August rules out most exterior work, so exterior repaints are booked
around it.
Roof painting
Tile, corrugated and IBR roofs. A roof repaint is not the same job as a wall repaint:
the surface is walked on, it takes direct sun all day, and it needs a coating made for the
substrate rather than a wall paint. Cleaning and treating moss and lichen comes first, then
rust treatment on metal or sealing of porous tiles, then the coating itself. A roof that is
leaking needs the leak fixed before it is painted, not after.
Body corporate, complexes and sectional title
Complex and body corporate
work is quoted per block or per scheme, with a schedule that keeps access, parking and
noise manageable for residents. Trustees usually need the quote itemised by building and by
element – walls, trim, balustrades, common areas – so it can be put to a meeting and
compared against other quotes line by line. That is how we write them.
Commercial and industrial
Offices, retail units, warehouses and factories, worked around trading hours where the
space stays open. Larger commercial jobs are usually specified rather than simply
repainted: substrate, system, dry film thickness and the number of coats are agreed up
front so what gets applied is what was priced.
Preparation and repair
Crack repair, plaster patching, sanding, stripping, priming and sealing. This is the
part of a painting quote that varies most between contractors and it is the part worth
comparing. A price that looks low against the others is usually low because the
preparation is thinner, and that shows up in two or three summers rather than eight.
